Mental Fitness Book Club
February 2025
We had a great discussion about Bessel van der Kolk’s book, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma. Anyone who has been affected by trauma or has a loved one affected by trauma can benefit from reading this book which many people call “life-changing!”
Our next book is a long but great read. I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb was a New York Times Bestseller in 1998 and was featured in Oprah’s Book Club. We will meet on March 19th at 5:30pm (Save the Date!) at the Salem Book Bin to discuss the book.
All books we will be reading are available for purchase at the Book Bin. Anyone who attends the book club will receive a free admission pass to the museum.
We are alternating between novels/memoirs and self-help books. Every month there will be a staff member from both the Museum of Mental Health and Project ABLE to lead to the book discussion.
Our upcoming books are:
- March: I know this Much is True, Wally Lamb
- April: When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress by Gabor Maté
- May: Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen
- June: Laziness Does Not Exist by Devon Price
