Guilty Except for Insanity is a new documentary project spearheaded by Portland State University Psychology Professor and documentary filmaker Jan Haaken.  The film follows the journeys of five people who enlist the insanity defense after being charged with serious crimes. The documentary portrays the circumstances surrounding their crimes and the dilemmas they confront as they enter the Oregon State Hospital under the “guilty except for insanity” plea.

Two benefit screenings will be held at the Grand Theater in Salem on April 11th at 1:30 pm and 7 pm.  The screenings will raise money for completing the project and serve as a forum for community feedback.  A Gala benefit reception will also be held April 11th 5:30-7pm.

For more information about the film and to view a trailer please visit the project’s website.  Tickets to the screenings are available at www.AbsolutelyTix.com or Travel Salem.
